Cinquain Spring Poems

Writing poetry about Spring is a wonderful way to usher in the new season. Third class learned the skill of writing cinquain poems which are 5 line poems which do not rhyme. They are very enjoyable to write as they require you to use nouns, verbs and adjectives and follow a set pattern,

Third Class enjoyed exploring Spring nouns, verbs and adjectives. They wrote fantastic poems using the following rules:

Line 1: One word giving the title (Noun)
Line 2: Two words describing the title (adjectives)
Line 3: Three words that express the action (Verbs)
Line 4:Four words to describe the noun more
Line 5: One word that gives the title a different name (synonym)

The following are a selection of some of the children's poems:

World Book Day 2017

Colourful  costumes on World Book Day.

Scoil Padraig Naofa was awash with colour and the excitement was palpable on World Book Day 2017. Every child deserves due credit for the tremendous effort that was made. Great enjoyment was had by all. Well done to both children and parents alike.

World Book Day 2017

World Book Day takes place on March 2nd 2017. On this day pupils are invited to ‘dress up’ as their favourite book character. We hope that pupils enjoy creating their costumes with whatever clothing and materials that are available at home.  As usual, the more creative the better! We do not expect parents/pupils to purchase additional costumes/materials for this event.

Ash Wednesday - The Beginning of Lent

Fr. Des visited the school on Ash Wednesday, 1st March 2017. Throughout this visit he discussed the season of Lent and distributed ashes to the pupils and teachers of the school. Many thanks to Fr. Des for his kindness and for helping us to create such a caring ethos throughout our school. It is very much appreciated.

Letter Writing

Pupils engaged in a letter writing task. This involved discussing, drafting & editing letters. They then posted the letters to Moycullen National School in Co. Galway. The pupils from Moycullen also wrote to the boys & girls in Cregmore. Wonderful fun was had stamping, sealing, opening and reading the letters in class. Many thanks to the pupils & teachers in Moycullen for engaging in this activity and we look forward to ‘skyping’ you in the near future!
