Our Primary Science and Maths Excellence Award 2015/16 Portfolio

We have been very busy again this year throughout the school undertaking hands on investigations in science, maths, technology and engineering. We also enjoyed sharing our work with each other in the school, engaging in regular interactive exhibitions in the hall. Below are some images showing a sample of what we have included in our award portfolio.

Fingers crossed we will be awarded the Plaque of Science and Maths Excellence again this year!

Clan Cluana Theatre Visits Our School

Clan Cluana recently performed a wonderful account of ‘Deirdre of The Sorrows’. The Children really enjoyed the show and were particularly captivated by the use of props and costumes by the cast. A very enjoyable time was had by all.

Junior Authors

Well done to Ríonagh Crowe who achieved an award of merit in the Write A Book 2016 Junior Competition. The reception for this event took place in Galway’s Radisson Hotel. Well done also to Paul Woods, Oliver Costello & Rhona Connolly who were also highly commended in this section of the prestigious competition. The Write A Book Project enables primary school children to become real authors as they create their own books by actively engaging in the process of writing, composing, constructing, designing, illustrating and presenting their work to a wide audience. Well done to all!!

Spring a Ling!

Our Spring Clean Day of Action 2016 was a resounding success. Despite the unsettled weather, we succeeded in enhancing our school environment by planting flowers, seeds and bulbs. We weeded the raised beds and swept the school yards. We dusted, washed and polished. We segregated our litter into differing bags and we prepared our boxes and baskets for the upcoming summer season. Many thanks to all who supported the occasion by sending in cleaning agents, gloves, bags, compost, utensils and ensuring that all Children were adequately supplied with hi-vis jackets and gloves. Sincere thanks to Willie Kenny who gave of his time so generously by calling to the school with his sweeper. Willie professionally cleaned and swept the car parks and our yards. This day helped to instil an awareness of the importance of looking after and caring for our environment.
