Seachtain na Gaeilge 2016
Tráth na gceist took place
throughout the school as part of our Seachtain na Gaeilge celebrations. Great
fun was had by all. It was wonderful to observe the pupils ag labhairt Gaeilge to
one another throughout the sessions. Maith Sibh!
World Book Day 2016
World Book Day took place on
3rd March 2016. Throughout this day the students engaged with various
genres of literature. Pupils were invited to ‘dress up’ as their favourite
characters and children were also invited to read stories to their peers and
other members of the school community. We explored story through play, drama,
circle-time, ICT, the use of props & artefacts and through various other
methodologies. Great fun was had by all. Here are just a selection of pictures.
Seachtain na Gaeilge 2016
To commence our Seachtain na Gaeilge celebrations, renowned
musician Michael Vignoles visited the school. He delivered a fascinating
account on the composition and working of the uileann pipes and bodhrán along
with a wonderful musical performance and musical workshop for each class. It certainly created a much greater awareness
of instruments that are so closely correlated to our heritage and culture.
Did you know………?
The Irish-language term píobaí uilleann literally means "pipes of the
elbow".
