Maths Week October 2014
Maths Week in Rang a Sé!
To celebrate Maths Week (13th-17th October) we left our math book closed for the whole week and instead concentrated on a range of maths board games and explored logic puzzles, we created 'Maths Masterpieces' in art and used our Surface RTs to play interactive maths games online. We learned a lot and had great fun whilst doing so! Here's the evidence!!
Cregmore NS Pupils attend Science and Technology Festival Launch, Oct 2014
A group of 20 students from fifth class attended the launch of the
Science and Technology Festival this year in Medtronic as a result of a
competition that Ms.Herwood entered and won for the school. We had a
great time while we attended the launch. We got our pictures taken, some
of us were interviewed by Galway Bay FM, we listened to some very
interesting speeches and we also got to partake in the Cell Explorer's
workshop where we extracted DNA from a banana. Below are some pictures
documenting this visit.
ReelLIFE Science Video Entry- Oct 2014
This year 5th and 6th class came together again to enter the ReelLIFE
Science competition which integrates ICT and Science. Groups from each
class came together and worked cooperatively to research a topic
relating to the food we eat. Such topics included: Food labels,
Calories, Water, Carbohydrates, Proteins, Minerals, Vitamins, Fats, etc. Each group constructed a fantastic poster presentation based on their
topic and the overall project culminated with the recording of our
collaborative food study, entitled 'Food Glorious Food'. Have a look at
our video at the link below!

WELL DONE TO ALL!
6th and 5th class School Tour to Dublin
On Friday 20th, 6th and 5th class went on a school tour to Butlers Chocolate Factory. We first were given a tour by the kind staff around the factory. We were shown videos, pictures and machines that make chocolate. We then were given a chocolate bear and white chocolate to decorate it.We all had a great time in the factory. After that, we were brought to the café and shop in the factory and we ate our lunch on the green. Next, we boarded the bus and went to Liffey Valley shopping centre. We were put in groups and were given time to explore the shops. Finally, we boarded the bus for home, shopped-out-of-it and full of chocolate. We all had a brilliant time!

Pupils from 1st class enjoyed presenting their projects
Each pupil chose a country to research and enjoyed sharing this information to other members of the school community. Lots of the projects reflected facts on countries currently participating in the 2014 World Cup! Well done to all the boys and girls.
